By following a few simple guidelines, you can help protect Castle Combe's unique character and ensure it remains a wonderful place to live and visit.

Respect That People Live Here

The cottages, lanes and gardens you see are private homes, not museum exhibits.

Please help protect residents' privacy by:

Keep to public roads, footpaths and public rights of way.
Never enter private gardens, driveways or courtyards.
Do not look through windows or into private homes.
Keep noise to a minimum, particularly during the early morning and evening.
Supervise children at all times.

A little consideration goes a long way and is greatly appreciated by those who call Castle Combe home.

Park Considerately

Parking within the village is extremely limited.

Please use the designated public car park whenever possible and avoid parking:

On double yellow lines.
Across driveways or private entrances.
On grass verges or pavements.
Anywhere that blocks access for residents, deliveries or emergency vehicles.

Parking responsibly helps keep the village safe and accessible for everyone.

Leave No Trace

Please take your litter home or use the bins provided.

This includes food packaging, drink containers, coffee cups, cigarette ends and dog waste. Keeping Castle Combe clean protects its natural beauty and makes everyone's visit more enjoyable.

Help Protect Our Historic Village

Many of Castle Combe's buildings, walls and bridges are several hundred years old and are protected for their historic significance.

Please help preserve them by:

Do not climb on walls, bridges or historic structures.
Avoid leaning bicycles or heavy objects against historic stonework.
Do not remove flowers, plants, stones or other historic features.
Never carve, scratch or mark buildings or street furniture.

These irreplaceable buildings have survived for centuries through careful stewardship. Your care helps ensure they remain for future generations.

Dogs Welcome

Well-behaved dogs are welcome throughout the village.

Please keep dogs under close control, clean up after them and be mindful of livestock, wildlife and other visitors when exploring the surrounding countryside.
